Open Call for Interviews and Guest Articles
I have decided to introduce a new set of features to the website, and allow for interviews and guest articles. I am doing this in the hopes that it will let me bring my readers both a wider range of content, opinions, and ideas, but also let me help give a voice to people who might not have any outlet other than forums, which may not always be appropriate.
While the guest articles are primarily intended to help give an outlet to people without one of their own, I am open to guest articles written by anyone.
If you have any interest, drop me a line at Daniel (at) Aleph Gaming (dot) com.
Posting Interruption
You may have noticed that yesterday, though I had returned from PhilCon, I had not posted.
In the last four days, I have managed to eat one meal, and my status migraine/tension headache medicine has at least temporarily stopped working. To say the least, while this is the case, getting anything done is impossible.
I have high hopes that I will either have new medications by the weeks end, or whatever bug I picked up at the convention will have taken its course in the next day or two, and my posting should resume its normal schedule shortly.
Thank you for your patience.
PhilCon Schedule Update
The update for my panel scheduling at PhilCon has come through, and I’ve been added to two new panels. Here are the panels, along with times and locations, you can expect to find me at:
Fri 8:00 PM in Salon 1 (1 hour)
BEST… COMIC-BOOK MOVIE… EVER!: THE COMICS ON FILM AND TV (399)
[Panelists: Glenn Hauman (mod), Mike Pederson, J. Andrew World,
Jennifer Williams, Kimberly Ann Kindya, Daniel Burnet]
We’ve seen the best, like SPIDERMAN or BATMAN BEGINS. We’ve seen the worst, like THE PUNISHER, or BATMAN & ROBIN. But what makes a great comic-book movie or TV series? What changes should and should not be made to adapt a classic comic-book to the screen.
Fri 9:00 PM in Salon 2 (1 hour)

THE “BALONIUM” FACTOR (432)
[Panelists: Daniel Burnet (mod), JJ Brannon, Ariel Cinii, John
Wright]
Balonium is that substance or effect that suspends the laws of the universe as the plot requires, producing cheap interstellar travel, time travel, egg-laying alien princesses and the inexplicably powered sandworms of Dune. Yet we know all of these things are impossible. Can science fiction be written about things that are actually possible without using liberal doses of Balonium?
Main Site Back Up
The main page, AlephGaming.com, is now back up. It’s fairly simple, but hopefully it should be expanded soon.
Aleph Fantasy Preview and Demos
The Preview for Aleph Fantasy will be released on November 16th, and made available for free PDF download. A Pre-Release Event is being held at PhilCon that same weekend, where demos of the game will be run for free.
Aleph Fantasy uses the new Aleph System, which features:
- The new Continuous Combat System, which provides roundless combat.
- Non-linear class design, giving players a new level of control in how they advance
- A percentile skill system, where growth depends on Intelligence and use, not character level.
- A new magic system, leaving Spell Levels and the old Fire-and-Forget systems behind.
- One of the industry’s easiest Multi-Classing systems.
Welcome New Readers!
I’d like to thank Yax over at Dungeon Mastering for the link today, and to welcome any new readers to the site.
I’d also like to thank both Yax from Dungeon Mastering and Martin from Treasure Tables for their advice on how to improve the site. You can already see some of the changes inspired by their advice, and more will continue to be implemented, some obvious, and some not so obvious.
Update:Â Thanks to StupidRanger for putting up a link to us on their website.
Posting interruption
I would like to apologize for the interruption in posting - my computer has broken, and repairing it is taking longer than initially expected.
Normal posting will resume on Monday.
Thank you for your patience.
